The Nakatombetsu Limestone Caves are a designated natural monument of Hokkaido Prefecture; they are the oldest limestone caves to be discovered in Hokkaido. At Nakatombetsu Limestone Caves Shizen Fureai Park, you’ll also be able to see not just these limestone caves, but also Japan’s northernmost karst formations. (Open: May－October)
Within the park there is a boardwalk which allows visitors to observe the animals and plants of each of the seasons. The Limestone Cave festival is held in June when the moss pink can also be enjoyed in full bloom.
