At the end of the 19th century, western apples were planted in Nanae Town for the very first time in Japan. The road that crosses the center of the town is called “Fruits Road”. On Fruits Road, orchards are lined up, enabling visitors to enjoy picking a variety of fruits, including over 20 different kinds of apples, strawberries, cherries, prunes and grapes, according to the seasonal availability.
