The cool climate of Hokkaido is a highly comfortable environment for beef cattle which do not thrive in a hot and humid climate. In Hokkaido, approximately 20% of all the beef cattle in Japan are raised.

Biratori Town is famous as a producing district of Japanese beef and much of Biratori Wagyu boast its premium quality categorized in the top rank in Japan.

Hosted in the town in September of every year, “Biratori Saru River Festival” is a popular event at which visitors can taste Biratori Wagyu BBQ.
