Cape Nosappu

See the earliest sunrise in Japan at Cape Nosappu

Sights, Winter

Cape Nosappu is the farthest eastern cape in Japan that regular people can visit. On it’s flat plain is a spot where visitors can see the earliest sunrise in Japan.

In June, the sun rises at about 3:30 in the morning, which means that visitors can see a sunrise that is around two hours earlier than that of Naha in Okinawa, which is more than 3,000 km to the south. Many people visit in order to see Japan’s earliest sunset on the early morning of January first each year.
