Canoeing on the Kushiro River which flows through the Kushiro Wetland can be enjoyed at any time of the year. Canoeing in the summer in particular means that you’ll be going down the Kushiro River while floating atop relaxed currents and will be able to get acquainted with the wild animals living on the wetlands, such as wild birds, Yezo sika deer, northern foxes, red-crowned cranes and more. Depending on the course you take, you’ll also enjoy a canoe trip entailing great long-distance views of the Akan mountain ranges (which includes Mt. Oakan ・ Mt. Meakan). There’s no doubt that you’ll lose track of time itself and experience a moment nestled in the bosom of nature, thanks to the sounds of the river, the wind in the wetlands, and more.
