Cape Ofuyu Observatory

The precipitous cliff of Ofuyu Coast and the sun setting over the Japan Sea can be viewed from Cape Ofuyu Observatory.

Autumn, Sights, Spring, Summer

A glazed observation tower with a 360-degree panorama at an altitude of 135m. On a fine day Shakotan Peninsula, Teuri Island and Yagishiri Island can be seen in the distance. This place is a scenic place on a precipitous cliff where lucky visitors can even spot Rishiri-fuji (Mt. Rishiri). In particular the sight of the sun setting over the Japan Sea seen below is truly an exquisite view.

Moreover, there is a facility nearby where visitors can bathe in a hot spring and watch the sunset. The observation tower is open from late April through to mid-October.
