Yagishiri Island

Dream Yagishiri Suffolk lamb raised in a harsh natural environment.

Autumn, Food, Sights, Spring, Summer

Due to the impact of gusty winds from the sea, trees on Yagishiri Island are growing in a very unusual shape with the branches extending right and left as if they are crawling on the ground. On this island, sheep graze day and night on a vast ranch without threats from their natural enemies, eating grass rich in salt and minerals from constant exposure to the sea breeze. Perhaps thanks to this unique environment, Yagishiri Suffolk lamb is tender and has a less distinctive smell. As only around 200 sheep per year are on the market they are called “dream lamb” and its exceptional deliciousness draws attention from across Japan and beyond.
