In Urakawa Town, there is a road called Sakura Road, where around 1,000 cherry trees line up alongside a road spanning 3km. When the cherry blossoms come into full bloom, this is a popular spot where they bloom in a way that has them looking like they are hovering over the road.
At the Cherry Blossom Festival held between late April and early May, the cherry blossoms are lit up, meaning that visitors can also enjoy fantastical nighttime cherry blossoms.
What’s more, at the JRA Hidaka Training Farm located right next to Sakura Road, are two beautiful cherry trees that are referred to the “Hyakunen Zakura (hundred-year cherry blossom tree)” and the “Choju-Zakura (long-living cherry blossom tree)” respectively. From the observatory installed within the grounds, visitors can gaze upon these trees and at the farm. (Observatory Open: 8:00-16:00)
