This is one of the more popular venues for viewing shibazakura (pink moss) in Hokkaido; it’s located at the foot of Mount Mokoto in Ozora Town. From early May to early June, the mountain’s incline is colored in pink with shibazakura, making it look just as though someone has laid down a pink carpet. At the Higashimokoto Shibazakura Festival held during the blooming season for shibazakura, events like nighttime light-ups and fireworks displays are also conducted.
In addition to a day-trip hot springs facilities (fees required) and a free foot bath on the premises, visitors can also get a taste of pink shibazakura soft-serve ice cream at the shop.
