The Rausu Visitor Center is an establishment where visitors can learn about the nature and the history of Shiretoko, a world heritage site. In particular, the skeletal specimen of a killer whale hung as if it is diving into the sea is so impressive it’s worth seeing. The center’s information search section is very substantial and it can be utilized as a place to gather information prior to visiting the national park.
Additionally, a geyser located nearby allows visitors to witness the boiling water shooting up in the air as high as 10 m above ground at least every hour.
